Parking & Directions

For GPS purposes please use the intersection of Sterling St. & Forsyth Ave (185 Sterling Street, Hamilton, ON) as coordinates to guide you to the campus entrance. We highly recommend using the Sterling Street entrance as it is closest to the campus tour meeting location. 

  • From Kitchener/Waterloo, Guelph, Cambridge
    Take Highway 401 to Highway 6 South. From Highway 6, exit on Highway 403 toward Hamilton, once in Hamilton, take the Main Street West (Exit 69A) off ramp. At the traffic signal at the top of the ramp, turn left onto Main Street and turn immediately right (before Husky gas station) onto Newton Avenue. As this street crosses King Street it becomes Sterling Street. Proceed up Sterling Street onto the McMaster campus. See parking details above.
  • From the south Cambridge area, take Highway 8 to Hamilton. Proceed through Dundas along King Street, which becomes Cootes Drive. Turn left on Main Street West. Proceed along Main Street and turn left on Dalewood Ave. Turn left on Sterling Street and proceed to the McMaster Campus. See parking details above.
  • From Toronto, Oakville, Burlington
    Travel westbound on the QEW or Highway 407. In Burlington, take Highway 403 West to Hamilton (Downtown), Brantford. Exit Highway 403 at the Main Street West (Exit 69A) off ramp. At the traffic signal at the top of the ramp, turn left onto Main Street and turn immediately right (before Husky gas station) onto Newton Avenue. As this street crosses King Street it becomes Sterling Street. Proceed up Sterling Street onto the McMaster campus. See parking details above.
  • From Brantford and London
    Travel on Highway 403 to the Aberdeen Avenue exit. Turn left at the first traffic light and proceed along Longwood Road, then turn left onto Main Street West. Turn right onto Newton Avenue (before Husky gas station). As this street crosses King Street it becomes Sterling Street. Proceed up Sterling Street onto the McMaster campus.   • From Toronto Airport (YYZ – Lester B. Pearson International)
    Exit the airport onto Highway 427 South. Exit Highway 427 onto the QEW toward Hamilton. Follow detailed directions for coming from Toronto (on left).
  • From Hamilton Airport (YHM – John C. Munro International)
    Exit the airport onto Highway 6 north, which connects to Highway 403. Take Highway 403 eastbound (toward Toronto), and exit as described in the directions for coming from Brantford (on left).
  • From the Niagara Peninsula
    Follow the QEW over the Burlington Skyway Bridge as though going to Toronto. Take Highway 403 toward Hamilton, exit the highway at the Main Street West (Exit 69A) off ramp. At the traffic signal at the top of the ramp, turn left onto Main Street and turn immediately right (before Husky gas station) onto Newton Avenue. As this street crosses King Street it becomes Sterling Street. Proceed up Sterling Street onto the McMaster campus. See parking details above.

We recommend that you enter campus at the Sterling Street & Forsyth Avenue Entrance (185 Sterling Street, Hamilton, ON) — NOT the Main Street West Entrance. Once through the Sterling Street entrance, you have two options:

1) LEFT – L.R. Wilson Underground Parking:

  • Take the first entrance on your left (after the median) to park underground
  • If the sign for this lot says “Visitor Closed,” please proceed to Option #2

2) RIGHT – Other Parking Lots: B, C & Stadium Underground Parking:

  • Turn right at the first available opportunity (Stearn Drive)
  • Parking Lots B & C will be on your left – signs will indicate visitor parking availability
  • If there are open visitor parking spaces, turn left at the fork and park in the available lot
  • If the signs for these lots say “Visitor Closed,” continue straight along Stearn Drive
  • Turn left at the stop sign in front of the Ivor Wynne Centre
  • Once you have passed the David Braley Athletic Centre on your right, turn right at the second stop sign onto Michell Crescent
  • Proceed straight along Michell Crescent
  • Follow the signs for the Stadium Parking (under the football field)
  • If the sign for Stadium Underground says “Visitor Closed,” you may proceed to Lot H

*NoteThe walk from the Stadium / Zone H to Kenneth Taylor Hall is approximately 5-7 minutes.

Campus Tours leave from the Student Recruitment Office – Togo Salmon Hall 111.

From the L.R. Wilson Underground Parking:

  • Exit the North-facing doors onto Sterling Street
  • Cross Sterling Street and continue North down Stearn Drive towards the McMaster University Student Centre
  • Take the set of stairs located just past the McMaster University Student Centre, before the DeGroote School of Business
  • Enter the courtyard and proceed North
  • Our office is the door in the Northeast corner of the courtyard: Togo Salmon Hall 111

From Parking Lots B & C:

  • Head towards the McMaster University Student Centre
  • Take the set of stairs located in between the McMaster University Student Centre and the DeGroote School of Business
  • Enter the courtyard and proceed North
  • Our office is the door in the Northeast corner of the courtyard: Togo Salmon Hall 111

From Parking Lots B & C (Accessible):

  • Enter the DeGroote School of Business
  • Proceed through the lobby, and exit out the West doors
  • Continue straight, underneath the Kenneth Taylor Hall sign, then turn right
  • Our office is the door in the Northeast corner of the courtyard: Togo Salmon Hall 111

From Stadium Underground Parking (Accessible):

  • Proceed South along Michell Crescent (bordering the athletics field)
  • At the stop sign, cross the street (Stearn Drive) and continue up the stairs/ramp in front of Togo Salmon Hall
  • Head straight across the courtyard, making a left-hand turn just before the Student Centre
  • Proceed towards Kenneth Taylor Hall and turn left before reaching the overhang
  • Our office is the door in the Northeast corner of the courtyard: Togo Salmon Hall 111
