These averages are calculated based on an applicant’s top six Grade 12U/M courses (for Compass 101/Ontario applicants), including those courses required for the specific Level I programs.

Our Admissions Office is currently working toward communicating a final decision to all Level I Compass 101 applicants  by the standard May 29, 2013 deadline.

Alternatively, prospective students are welcome to register for a general campus tours between March 18 and April 5, 2013.

1. Confirmation
An application confirmation e-mail is forwarded to applicants within 7-10 business days after receipt at McMaster’s Enrolment Services (Admissions). Applicants are urged to add the @mcmaster.ca domain as a safe/trusted sender within their respective e-mail clients. Adding McMaster’s domain as a safe sender ensures e-mail messages are not flagged as spam/junk. Applicants with a Hotmail account listed on their OUAC (Ontario Universities Application Centre) account should pay extra attention to this step.

2. Supplementary Applications
After application choices are submitted on the OUAC website, prospective students to Level I of Arts & Science Program, Integrated Science, Bachelor of Health Sciences and Midwifery should ensure their supplementary application(s) are submitted (on McMaster’s website) by February 1, 2013. Secondary school applicants to all other Level I programs are NOT required (or allowed) to submit a supplementary application, as admission is based solely on academic performance. Non-secondary school students and applicants to upper level programs are urged to consult our Dates and Deadlines page for a listing of all programs that require a supplementary application.

Here are a some general tips and suggestions for completing a supplementary application.

3. Grades & Offers
At the completion of the Fall/Winter semester (or term for non-semestered students), Ontario secondary schools will forward Grade 12 marks to the OUAC .  Upon receipt of grades from the OUAC, McMaster will communicate admission decisions starting in late February or early March, 2013. Program-specific admission decision timing and criteria are posted under our Admission Requirements page. Admission decisions to programs requiring a supplementary application will not be released until early May 2013.

Hotmail users may also consider changing their email account to a Gmail to avoid any issues in receiving communications. Should you decide to change your e-mail address, please make the same change on your OUAC applicant account through the Review and Change feature. Doing so will update your e-mail account for all of the Ontario universities where you have applied.

The Admissions Office at McMaster University is aware that some students and parents are concerned about the possible impact that work-to-rule and rotating strikes by Ontario secondary school teachers may have on their application, particularly in relation to letters of recommendation and other supplementary submissions. At this time applications from Ontario secondary school students are being received as expected through the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC).

All Ontario universities and the OUAC are monitoring developments carefully. In the event of a disruption to the application process, the OUAC and the universities will work together to mitigate any circumstances outside of the applicant’s control.

McMaster University and the OUAC will update this message as more information becomes available. Students are encouraged to check these websites regularly for new information.

On Saturday, October 27, 2012, prospective undergraduate students are invited to visit McMaster for our exciting Fall Preview event. Visitors will be able to explore the McMaster campus, take a look at our residences, visit program displays and talk with academic as well as student service representatives. Our academic information sessions will give guests an opportunity to learn more about our programs available to high school graduates.

The event runs from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm, so be sure to check the Schedule of Events to plan your day in advance. There is no need to register (though an RSVP would be appreciated) and parking is free! Prospective students, friends and parents are all welcome to attend!
