Required Documentation
Select the appropriate applicant category from the menu below to determine the documentation you need to submit to support your application to McMaster University.
Send only the transcripts/documents indicated. Do not send any additional documentation (letters of reference, certificates, achievements, financial statements, etc). The admissions decision is based solely on academics. Applicants to the Arts and Science, Bachelor of Health Sciences, Integrated Sciences, Fine Arts, Midwifery and Music programs have additional requirements indicated on the Letter of Acknowledgement.
Interim and final transcripts should be submitted as soon as possible. If your interim average is sufficiently high you may be considered for an early ‘conditional’ offer of admission. If your school reports quarterly, transcripts from each quartile should be submitted.
Transcripts should show all grades achieved to date plus all courses expected to be completed by the end of the academic/school year.
Applicants who do not meet our minimum English Language Proficiency requirements must arrange with the testing service to submit official TOEFL or equivalent test results directly to McMaster University. SAT I and II test results or ACT test results should be submitted by all applicants in an American High School curriculum program from the U.S.A. and other international schools. ACT results should be sent directly to McMaster University or may be included on official High School transcripts. The McMaster institutional code for TOEFL and SAT test result requests to ETS is 0936.
Please ensure that you have provided your own valid, personal e-mail address through the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC).
You will be contacted via e-mail if any additional information is required for consideration of your application.
All 105 applicants will receive their admission decision via e-mail.
Please check your e-mail regularly for updates from McMaster over the next few months.
Official Transcripts
An official transcript is a complete academic record of all individual courses and grades achieved at an educational institution. It must be signed by a presiding official and bear the seal or certified stamp of the issuing institution. The signature, seal and/or stamp should appear on all pages of the document.
Transcripts should be submitted directly to McMaster from the issuing institution. McMaster will only accept transcripts directly from an applicant when the transcripts are in sealed envelopes that are stamped across the sealed flap by the issuing institution. If McMaster suspects that the envelope has been opened and resealed or otherwise tampered with, the applicant will be requested to provide another transcript issued directly from the institution to McMaster.
Internationally educated applicants who are currently resident in Canada and are unable to request that their official transcripts be submitted to McMaster directly from their home institutions because they are no longer resident in that country, must subsequently provide a credential evaluation with document authentication from World Evaluation Services Canada (WES) http://www.wes.org/ca/index.asp. McMaster undergraduate programs require the WES ICAP Course-by-Course with GPA calculation assessment. Please contact WES Canada directly to arrange for the appropriate evaluation.
Photocopies of Documents are not acceptable.
Where documentation from a school outside of Canada is in a language other than English, you must provide official transcripts in the original language as well as official, notarized English translations.
Submission of Documentation
It is the sole responsibility of the applicant to arrange for required documentation to be delivered to McMaster University well in advance of any deadline dates. Application files where documentation is received after the deadline date for submission will be reviewed for admission on a case-by-case basis if space in the requested program/faculty exists. All documents submitted in support of your application for admission become the property of the University and are not returnable. If you are not accepted, or you fail to enroll following acceptance, your documentation will be destroyed at the end of the admission cycle. If you reapply, you must submit any new academic information in addition to the documentation submitted previously.
When submitting your document(s), use the label(s) provided, with your preprinted student number on them. This will ensure that your documents are matched to your file in the most efficient manner possible. If you are unable to use the labels provided, you should ensure that all supporting documentation is clearly labelled with either your McMaster Student Number (found on your confirmation letter) or your Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC) application reference number.
All documentation should be submitted to:
