Ontario High School Students


STEP 1: Research Your Options & Make A Plan
(No later than October of your final year of High School)

STEP 2: Apply to University (Online)
(early November 2011 to early January 2012)

  • Apply online at the Ontario Universities Application Centre’s (OUAC) website by January 11, 2012
  • Apply before the recommended deadline to ensure your application is processed without delays. Note: Applying after January 11, 2012 (via OUAC) is still possible, to programs which do not have a mandatory supplementary application deadline that has passed. Adding/changing a McMaster program choice after Jan. 11 is also possible via OUAC’s ‘Review and Change’ function.
  • Include a valid and unique e-mail address that only you can access/use. McMaster and many Ontario universities use email to send important information
  • Submit Supplementary Application if required. Note: Arts & Science, Health Sciences, Midwifery, and Integrated Sciences are the only McMaster programs that require a supplementary application. The deadline is: February 1, 2012


STEP 3: Stay Informed After Applying
(January to May 2012)

  • Check our website for updates
  • Explore McMaster’s campus via our Virtual Tour
  • Visit our Campus (if you have not already done so)
    – Regular Campus Tour (Jan. 9 – Apr. 5)
    – March Break Tours (Mar. 12 – 16, 2012)
    – May@Mac Open House (Saturday, May 12, 2012)
  • Check OUAC for offer(s) from McMaster or other Ontario universities
    – McMaster will start sending offers of admission in early March
  • Review the conditions of any offer(s) you receive (from McMaster or elsewhere)


STEP 4: Accept Your Offer
(by the deadline listed on your offer letter – June 1, 2012 for Ontario Students)

  • Accept your offer on OUAC by June 1, 2012 (or the deadline listed on your offer letter see Video or PDF instructions)

STEP 5: Register for Classes & Attend Orientation
(June to August 2012)

  • Review our Undergraduate Calendar for an overview of courses in your first year
    (and beyond)
  • Attend a Summer Orientation event offered by our Student Success Centre
  • Register (select classes, pay fees, setup email, etc.) as a new McMaster student
  • Visit Welcome Day for a preview of support services at McMaster
  • Start classes and orient yourself to university life during Welcome Week
